Quick Facts about Round Diamonds
If you are in the about-to-propose phase in your life, you must have already started contemplating about the kind of ring you would like to give your ladylove. A ring is a symbol of your love for her and hence, should be perfect. If she is traditional, you should definitely think of buying a ring with round diamonds in it. The round cut transcends time and has been the most popular choice for centuries.
Round diamonds are very versatile can look great in a variety of settings. A prong setting, a channel setting, accented with other stones – these diamonds work with all.
Round diamonds can look quite similar to a novice and hence you may get confused as to which one to choose. Just think about the golden rule for diamonds – the 4Cs – cut, clarity color and carat.
Cut: You need to ask your jeweller about the number of facets of the diamond. A good round diamond needs to have 58 facets for a brilliant shine but the count can also go up to a 100, depending on the quality.
Clarity: Here you need to do some homework on the creation of diamonds. Most diamonds have some imperfections called inclusions. Make sure to choose one with smaller inclusions rather than one big inclusion as the round cut will not be able to hide the big inclusions. See if your budget allows a flawless round cut diamond.
Color: Ask the jeweller to let you look at the diamond through his loupe. Does it have any other colors besides white? A perfect diamond, rated D,E or F is 100% colorless. You can next look at grades G,H or I diamonds which are nearly colorless and are great options for the round cut. See what suits your budget.
Carat: A big diamond is not necessarily a better one. Here you need to think about the lady’s hand – Will a larger diamond look good on her finger or a small one in a dainty setting. Get a carat weight from your jeweller.
