Gold is the metal which is also used in making jewellery. The gold jewellery is most common among other types of jewellery because of its glittering property and magnificent presentation. We use the term of karat to describe the purity of the gold. The pure gold is usually defined in terms of 24 karats. It means that if we consider 24 parts of a piece of gold then all the parts are pure. The gold of this type is not usually used in jewellery because pure gold is very soft and hence cannot be molded into different designs. Therefore, a little impurity is added. Now the gold of 22 karat means that the two parts out of the total 24 parts are impure, so is in the case with 18 karats, 14 karats, 12 karats in which 6, 10 and 12 parts out of total 24 parts are impure. There are a number of ways with the help of which beautiful colors are added to the gold and these colors are due to the addition of certain other colored metals to them. When we add a nickel or silver then it becomes the white gold and the addition of copper forms the red gold which is usually pinkish in color.

There is a variety of form in which gold jewellery is presented. There are beautiful necklaces which are worn by the brides on their wedding or engagement is by the other women on the occasions of mendi, parties or wedding celebrations. Beautiful colored beads are used to make a variety of designs. Some of these necklaces are worn high and tightly around the neck and others are dropped a little upto the collar bone. These necklaces are made either in multiple strands or in single strands.   Some are designed in a way that they can be worn with multiple knots in front or multiple loops around the neck, or a combination. Other variety in gold is present as bangles. These bangles are present in the market in a number op designs and the colors. It is best that select that gold bangle in which the stones or beads are of the color of your fitting. These bangles are usually worn in pairs, or as three or six pairs.

There are intricately designed resin and brass golden bangles whose purpose is to beautify the ladies wrist. Gold earrings are most commonly used and they are in the variety as long earrings, or small earrings. Some drop from the ear other remains attached to it. There are also the gold rings that are usually exchanged between the bride and the bridegroom at the occasion of wedding.
