Buy and Return on Blue Nile?

I wonder how I can trust companies like Blue Nile selling gold and diamond online! I would suspect what happen if they sell you a piece of fake diamond or gold. Well, for diamond, there could be certificate. However, on a piece of gold, if it’s fake and you find out, how can you argue that it is fake. Do they have anything to prove their quality? Also, how do they ensure customers returned that before would return the same one? My imagination is that the piece of gold could be swapped any time…

I am more curious about how the company deals with return

I hate to sound like a paranoid wacko, but I would have a really hard time trusting something as important as my engagement ring to an online company. What’s the incenitve? is it cheaper? Because that’s a red flag in itself. I’ve never heard of Blue Nile, so I really can’t offer any advice, but if I were you I would get my booty to a good old-fashioned tangible jeweler.
