why is my mercedes mirror gold colored?
i just bought a 2003 E500 benz and the driver side mirror has a gold tint or film or finish to it. does anyone know why its like that? is it just a film i can remove? its really difficult to see out of and i need to get rid of it. thanks c
Sorry to tell you this, but you will need to replace that mirror. The mirrors have heating coils that keep them from frosting up in the winter. When the coils short, they overheat and burn the mirrors.You need to replace not just the glass, but whole mechanism including the heating element. The dealer price is abut $600. You can find the parts cheaper elsewhere, if you can do the install yourself.
