gold rope chain turned after cleaning?

I have a 14k gold rope chain that I decided to put in jewerly cleaner. About a week later when I remembered to take it out ,a small maybe 1/4 inch of the chain had turned a dark color. Any answers would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

14k golds normally fades after cleaning but it should not turn dar. It’s possible that they accidentally broke the chain and repaired by soldering it with cheaper metals. It happened to my ring when i had re-sized.
