‘Medium cut’ round brilliant cut diamonds?
Am looking at a three-stone diamond engagement ring. All G colour, SI1, 1.0 centre with .50 either side. I loved this ring when I saw it looks fantastic but I was suprised and dissapointed to read on the diamond report that it is a ‘medium’ cut (ie.Excellent – V.Good – Good – Medium – Fair – Poor). So, it’s definately low down here, but seems to ‘sparkle’ well. Is it worth paying the extra money for a better cut. Is the difference noticable? Thanks
I think what is most important is how you like it. No one is going to ask you about the rating, so you don’t need to be embarrassed. I would just make sure the price is good for the quality you’re getting. You want to have something you’ll be happy with forever. If you can get bigger stones for less money, then go for it, if you want size. But if you’re going to be hung up on the quality rating, then yes, it is worth it to pay more if you’ll feel better about having a higher quality stone.
