How many rows is a friendship bracelet?
I want to make an alphabet letter bracelet, and I’m wondering how many rows of background to make BEFORE and AFTER starting the letters.
I want the (5-letter) name to be centered, that’s the problem. So there should be an equal number of background rows before and after the name.

Each letter is 5 rows, including a background row before it. (not after) Then I also want to add 2 hearts which are 6 rows each, one before the name, one after. The bracelet is 8 strings wide. Her wrist is about 6 cm wide, and my knots are tight (but not VERY tight.)
Summary: I need 26 rows for the name itself. (25 rows+1 extra background row) Then 12 rows for the hearts. So that’s 38 rows total. Then ABOUT how many rows should be on each side to center the name and hearts? My friend’s wrist measures about 6 cm.

I use cross stitch software (free download from the web) to design mine, but if you don’t have that, just grab a piece of graph paper, or if you don’t have that you can draw it out yourself. I use about 75 rows total (76 if you need an even number) and that usually gets me around 5.5-5.75″ of knotting. So if you’ve already got 38 rows accounted for, you need about another 36 or 38, so that means 18 or 19 additional on each side.
