Welsh Gold Jewellery Inspired By The Ryder Cup
The Ryder Cup is a golf tournament that takes place every two years between Europe and the United States. This tournament first began in 1927 and over time has developed into one of the most reputed sporting events in the world. The Ryder Cup was named after Samuel Ryder who donated the first trophy and made this tournament an official sporting competition. What makes this golf tournament special is that it was introduced to focus on the prestige of the golf players rather than the amount of money awarded. This October, the 2010 Ryder Cup will be held in Newport, South Wales.
Welsh gold jewellery is dignified and has a reputation that is in many ways similar to the Ryder Cup. Not only is it highly valued but it is in a class of it’s own since it is a symbol of the heritage and culture of the Welsh people. A pendant, earrings, lapel pin, bracelet, bangle and cufflinks also are a part of the official Ryder Cup 2010 jewellery collection. The pendant is made up 4 different charms that hang from a delicate silver linked chain. The charms include fresh water pearl, a golf ball and 2 coins with the Ryder Cup logo. One coin is larger and made out of silver while the other is smaller and made out of pure Welsh rose gold. The stud earrings have a delicate golf ball design made out of silver and rose gold. Each of these jewellery pieces also has a Clogau logo engraved which indicates the authenticity of the Welsh gold. Other attractive Ryder Cup jewellery pieces include the hip flask, charm and key chain. Clogau created exactly 12 pieces of Welsh gold for the 2010 Ryder Cup to represent the number of players on each team.
